ALPENA – The Alpena Downtown Development Authority is celebrating the first official week of spring with the Spring Fever Shoptacular this Thursday.

Fourteen downtown merchants are participating in the event and will be open late from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, offering sales, promotions, specials, giveaways and more.

Participating merchants include: Chippewa Valley Mercantile & Leatherworks, Classic Designs by Doreen Thomas, Boudoir by Michele Zee & Bohemian Bodyworks, Emery Enterprises, Myers’ Fashions Etc., The Style Wherehouse, Parallel 45 Books & Gifts, My Glass Wings, Traveling Ladders, Olivet Book & Gift, Regalo Luxury Gifts, The Local Basket Case, Rusty Petunias Marketplace, and Soaps & Such.

“The Spring Fever Shoptacular is meant to be a little bit of a celebration of the start of the spring season,” said Kingsli Kraft, DDA marketing and outreach coordinator. “The weather is already warming up and the sun is setting later so it should be light out for most of the event. We’re all feeling that spring fever and want to encourage people to continue to get out of the house and come downtown and support our downtown businesses and community.”

Those planning to attend the Spring Fever Shoptacular must continue to abide by social distancing guidelines including wearing a mask that covers both their nose and mouth, washing and sanitizing their hands when possible and keeping their distance from other shoppers when patronizing downtown shops.
