Met Gala 2021: Met Gala is back in business! To host two shows celebrating American fashion

NEW YORK: After a remarkably dressed-down year, New York’s premiere Met Gala is back — and not one but two shows celebrating American fashion are in the works.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday announced the annual sartorial exhibit would happen in two parts, with the first show entitled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” opening September 18 to celebrate The Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary.

The second exhibit — “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” — will kick off May 5, 2022. Both will run until September 5 of that year.

And with two shows, comes two parties.

American fashion will be the theme of the Costume Institute’s highly anticipated two-part Met Gala, the first of which will take place this September following last year’s cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Met Gala has become the fashion Oscars, and is traditionally hosted by a well-dressed public figure.
