Unlike other award ceremonies this year, the BAFTAs gave us some much-welcomed physical red carpet style despite much of the ceremony taking place virtually (reminisce here over the best BAFTA dresses of all time). While the star-studded list of nominees remained via video link, celebrities were invited to present the awards in person at the Royal Albert Hall, including actress Priyanka Chopra who wore two chic looks for the evening. The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, was also set to present at the awards but cancelled his appearance in the wake of his grandfather Prince Philip’s death.

“In light of the Duke of Edinburgh’s passing, the Duke of Cambridge will no longer be part of BAFTA programming this weekend,” the BAFTAs explained in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Our thoughts are with the royal family, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy at this time.” As president of the BAFTA organisation since 2010, Prince William has been regularly attending the BAFTAs for many years alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The 2021 BAFTA ceremony was broadcast over two nights to accommodate virtual appearances from guests in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines. In lieu of the pre-BAFTA party that celebrates the past year of film, nominees were sent an elegant celebratory box to enjoy at home, including a specially curated list of 50 BAFTA-winning and nominated films (view the list for yourself here to watch and celebrate the film industry).

Here we chart all the BAFTA 2021 fashion from the presenters on the physical red carpet and the nominees who attended remotely. (Then, for our definitive edit of the night’s best dressed, head here.)
